IMG brings in Pitch to promote Wembley Cup football tournament

Pitch has been hired to handle PR for the new pre-season football tournament featuring Barcelona, Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur, the Wembley Cup.

The agency has been brought on board by sports, entertainment and media company IMG to promote the tournament which takes place in July. Pitch won the brief following a three-way shoot-out against Synergy and Frank.

The account was put out to pitch last month (PRWeek, 24 April 2009).

The inaugural event will take place on 24 and 26 July 2009, and will see FC Barcelona, Spurs, Celtic and Egyptain club Al Ahly compete to lift the trophy.

The agency will report into IMG director of corporate communications Europe, Katie Byrne.
