Agencies cut more staff

Edelman, Jackie Cooper PR and Cake Group are the latest agencies to cut staff numbers.

Edelman and its Jackie Cooper consumer PR agency are making a total of five redundancies. Those to go include a director at Edelman’s financial practice, and an account director, account manager and two account executives at Jackie Cooper.

Edelman UK CEO Robert Phillips stressed that despite the redundancies taking place over the next few weeks, the agency was in good shape:  ‘This is about right-sizing the business for the next 18 months – it’s a precautionary measure.’

Cake Group has made ‘fewer than five’ junior-level redundancies from its support services division. Managing partner Chris Wood said there were no redundancies in the core PR function.
