23 March: As a specialist in online communities and social media, it may seem a little strange that I would suggest Mark Zuckerberg is right to ignore the complaints of Facebook users over the recent changes, but stick with me on this one. We should not confuse customer service with customers dictating business strategy simply by an immediate backlash - customer input should be acknowledged, and then a decision has to be made.

20 March: I have been checking out MicroPlaza, the latest in a long line of services that have sprung up around Twitter. The difference between this one and the others? This one is useful. MicroPlaza aggregates all of the links tweeted by the people you follow. Every time one of your friends posts a link, MicroPlaza records the message, along with the tweets of other people who have posted that same link.

19 March: Tracking conversations is a big part of using social media. Lots of online tools help with monitoring, but few have the capability to search all social media tools. Enter Social Mention. Social Mention is a 'real time search engine'. It searches user-generated content across blogs, micro-blogging services, comments, news, events, videos and bookmarks.
