Richard Darlington joins the Department of International Development (DFID) from his role as communications director at the government-funded education initiative Creative Partnerships.

Darlington replaces Paul Sinclair, who moved to Downing Street in the summer to target the ‘comm-entariat’, and subsequently took a role as MD designate of Hill & Knowlton’s 20-strong UK public affairs practice.

Darlington will support the department on media and comms issues.

Darlington was special adviser to Ruth Kelly at the Department for Education and Skills and during the 2005 General Election campaign. He has also worked as senior press officer at the Department of Trade and Industry.
