Tory Party deputy news manager Natalie Kirby will move to the fast food giant late next month. She will report in to McDonald’s V-P of communications Nick Hindle.

Kirby has worked her way up the ranks of the Tory press office since joining in October 2001.

The press office is currently run by head of press Henry Macrory, who reports in to director of comms Andy Coulson.

News of Kirby’s departure comes six weeks after it emerged that 24 jobs are to go at Conservative Central Office (PRWeek, 5 December 2008). The party is effectively abolishing the external relations department, but had hoped to keep the press office intact.
