The Arrogant Frog

What is it good for?

Entertaining clients with impressive food at credit crunch-friendly prices. Everything you would expect from a top notch London bistro, but at a fraction of the price because it's in Hove. Furnished in a chic but simple style, the focus is on the French-inspired food.

Signature dish

Every two weeks head chef Thomas Grateloup creates a seasonal menu from local ingredients. The plat du jour is a budget-friendly lunch, but for a real gastronomic experience the foie gras, the (changing) halibut dish and the creme brulee are the ones to write home about.

Who's the boss?

Rosario Guarneri, whose work includes Plaza Athenee, Paris and his award-winning Brighton restaurant Victor's, which he set up and ran for two years, winning two forks from the Michelin Guide two years running.

Tips please?

Phone in advance to book. They happily cater for vegans and vegetarians and create bespoke special diet dishes.

What's the damage?

Set lunch (plat du jour) is £7.95.
