The decision to merge the two agencies made good sense given the current economic conditions, according to Trimedia UK CEO Loretta Tobin.
‘We believe that size matters, and expanding our consumer division means we are well placed to take advantage of new opportunities,’ she said.
The move will effectively double the size of Trimedia’s consumer division. The newly combined team now has more than 40 consultants, representing clients such as Akzo-Nobel, Diageo, Coca-Cola GB and Procter & Gamble.
Following the merger, Trimedia director of consumer brands Daniel Cohen has been promoted to consumer MD. EHPR’s executive directors, Clare Hindley and Nasima Hussain, have joined Trimedia’s board.
Founded in 1982, EHPR specialises in beauty and grooming, home interest and entertainment, while Trimedia’s consumer team is known for food, drink, travel and leisure.
Meanwhile, Huntsworth is beginning a share buy-back programme to buy up to £5m of existing shares – 14.9 per cent of its existing issued share capital. Huntsworth CEO Lord Chadlington said: ‘Share prices for the whole sector are extraordinarily undervalued.’
