New focus for Battersea

Bell Pottinger Public Affairs (BPPA) is to replace Quatro Public Relations as the agency responsible for pushing through plans to redevelop Battersea Power Station.

BPPA has been called in by Treasury Holdings to manage all community relations and engagement with local stakeholders ahead of the masterplan application. The plan had been expected in late 2008 but is now due in March 2009.

BPPA's remit includes developing a consultation and comms strategy for local politicians and the community.

The agency will stress that the redevelopment will provide homes, jobs and better transport links and it intends to be 'the most sustainable development in Europe'.

Quatro MD, Paul Dimoldenberg said: "Quatro successfully completed the pre-application consultation which attracted over 14,000 visitors, over two-thirds of whom are in favour of the proposals for the Power Station. We were delighted to have organized one of the largest-ever pre-application consultation programmes which has created a very strong foundation for the project."
