Opinion: From our Readers - Diversity is the key to good recruitment

I note your feature on graduate recruitment (Feature, 17 October), and in particular the photograph accompanying it.

Taylor Bennett is an executive search business operating in the middle and upper levels of corporate communication, principally for in-house positions. We are often asked by clients to ensure our shortlists are as diverse as possible. If graduate entrants to the industry are represented by the young people in your photograph, this will continue to be difficult.

We have started our own graduate training programme, sponsored and supported by Brunswick, and run out of the Shoreditch offices of our sister company Unicorn Jobs. This programme, which started on 13 October, was only open to graduates of the University of East London. It is our hope that at the end of the ten-week programme the interns will move into entry-level jobs in financial and corporate PR. We hope to run further programmes in 2009 and beyond. I attach a photograph of the six interns, which I hope will make our point.
