Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

- GPlus Europe has recruited former Weber Shandwick and APCO Europe consultant Richard Sterneberg as an associate. He joins the agency from Akkanto (previously European Communication Strategies) where he was senior consultant. The agency also recently brought in top German civil servant Peter Witt as a partner.

- GPlus and fellow Brussels-based consultancy Aspect Consulting are candidates for a 'Worst EU Lobbying Award' for their respective roles in the Russia-Georgia conflict earlier this year (PRWeek, 15 August). The 2008 awards are organised by Corporate Europe Observatory, Friends of the Earth Europe, LobbyControl and Spinwatch. They aim 'to discourage controversial lobbying practices'.

- PPS Group has promoted Sam Schofield to be director of its Manchester office. He replaces Paul Boyfield, who is to head up Lexington Communications' new Manchester office (PRWeek, 17 October).

- Hanover Communications has rejoined the APPC after controversially resigning in 2005, when the agency was called Media Strategy. Blue Rubicon, Illiam Costain McCade, Green Issues and Political Developments have also joined, but Consolidated Communications has left the APPC.
