Just off the pace was Freud Communications which was highly commended in the same category, while Burson-Marseller won International Consultancy of the Year.

The award for New Consultancy of the Year went to The Ledbury Group, set up last year by former Weber Shandwick director Malcolm Gooderham.

Meanwhile Borkowski picked up the coveted Campaign of the Year award for its Bring Back Wispa campaign.

Conservative Party communications director Any Coulson was named PR Professional of the Year, while Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti was named Communicator of the Year.
