Marmalade PR has been handed a brief by sports marketing and management company Elite Sport Properties. The agency will handle media relations for the swimmer as she begins her four-year countdown to London 2012.

Marmalade was set up in September by Lucy Hackett, David Pugh, Alexandra Nelke and Kate Shanahan, who left Sputnik Communications en masse in July. PRWeek wrote about the plans for the new agency in July, but it was denied at the time.

Hackett believes the agency will do well despite the tough economic climate because it has low overheads and offers a bespoke, flexible service.

The agency specialises in sport, fashion and food. Clients include British fruit producer Norman Collett and project work for a charity auction for Hunter Boot and WaterAid.
