The brief will involve a mixture of PR, digital and event focussed activity to promote the iconic confectionery brand.
The consumer brands team at Red will join forces with its digital arm, Shiny Red, for the campaign.
Jo Slatem, Red's director in consumer brands, will head-up the account.
She said: ‘Bertie Bassett is a national institution and a celebrity in his own right. 2009 sees a new era for him and we're looking forward to having some fun with the Bassetts brand and engaging audiences of all ages in an entertaining launch early next year.'
Red also works with Cadbury on its Dairy Milk brand after winning the account in February this year.
