Flack: Conferences, parties and interviews

In Birmingham this week, Flack spotted treasonous blogger Guido Fawkes at the Tory conference sporting an eye-catching tartan trouser number before heading off to Bell Pottinger's champagne schmooze-fest. 'Not a shadow cabinet member to be seen,' he claimed on his blog the following day. Ouch! Bell Pottinger PA chairman Peter Bingle's response? 'It is not true. Perhaps he drank a little too much champagne?'...

Bell Pottinger's latest client win is Lembit Opik. Yes, Pottinger's Liverpool office has picked up the account to promote Mr Cheeky's bid for Lib Dem presidency. Pottinger associate director Richard Clein said that they would show that flamboyant Flack favourite Opik is 'a serious politician'. Touch My Bum for campaign theme?...

To the Editorial Intelligence debate this week about celebs in the media where Sunday Times columnist and author Rachel Johnson - sister of Boris - said PR parties were little more than 'warm wine, champagne breath and people spitting salmon at you'. Note to PROs - do not invite ungrateful Johnson to any more of your parties...

Finally, the head of new digital agency Galileo Ed Lecky-Thompson has been interviewing creative types. A mole tells us one candidate who was interviewed over the phone said Lecky-Thompson sounded 'cute'. The candidate then explained how she deals with difficult clients: 'I'd show them my tits.' Lovely...
