City & Corporate: Tavistock to boost Virgin

Virgin Media plans to revamp its corporate comms after bringing in Tavistock Communications to handle financial PR.

Tavistock emerged successful from a competitive pitch process to take over the six-figure account from incumbent M:Communications.

'We regularly review our agency and have brought on Tavistock Communications to reinforce our leadership position in the entertainment and comms space,' said Paul Richmond, director of corporate affairs and media at Virgin Media.

Chief executive John West will lead the account at Tavistock in what sources suggest is a big win for the agency. Tavistock will deal with corporate PR across all of Virgin Media's brands, incorporating TV, mobile, broadband and mobile phone products.

M: led financial comms for the firm since its bid for ITV in 2006 and advised it through its merger with NTL.

'Nick Miles and his team have done an outstanding job supporting us, particularly during the period in the lead-up to and following the rebrand,' said Richmond.
