Public Affairs: Watchdog win for Four

The new statutory consumer body created from the merger of the National Consumer Council, Energywatch and Postwatch has taken on its first lobbying and PR support.

Consumer Focus has appointed Four Communications to handle public relations and public affairs activity following a competitive pitch.

Consumer Focus chief executive Ed Mayo said the agency had shown 'an innovative and creative approach that reflected the aspirations of our new organisation'.

Four Communications chief executive Nan Williams will lead the account. She said: 'Consumer Focus will play a vital role in representing consumer interests across all sectors and we look forward to supporting them through this exciting and challenging time.'

Sources at Four Communications said that the agency had pulled out of the pitch process for the Energy Retail Association (round-up, right) after winning the watchdog account.
