Bell Pottinger opens in Geneva

Bell Pottinger has opened an office in Switzerland to focus on expanding its presence in the European financial services and healthcare sectors.

The Geneva office will be run by Nick Miles, who will initially be Bell Pottinger’s sole full-time presence in the country although the headcount will rise as business grows.

The firm already services a number of leading Swiss organisations such as Richemont, Roche, Speedel, Team Alinghi and UBS and is looking to expand that list.

‘We can improve our service offering to our existing Swiss clients by having a strong presence on the ground in the country,’ Miles said. ‘But the major focus will be building new business in bio-sciences and financial services.’

Switzerland is continental Europe’s largest financial centre, with a growing presence for hedge funds and private equity firms. The country is also a key European location for the life sciences sector.

The newly appointed Miles has worked in Switzerland for the past decade in corporate communications and investor relations roles at biopharmaceutical companies Serono and Speedel. He also has a background in international banking.
