Stem wins conference brief

The british pharmacological society has hired Stem Media to handle media relations for a conference of European pharmacologists this month. The Manchester-based agency was founded in June by Aeron Haworth and Alex Waddington.

Spink PR has won a brief to raise awareness of a new smoking-cessation treatment that is being launched this month. The agency will handle consumer and trade relations for natural health firm GR Lanes' NicoBloc product.

Athena Medical PR has poached Packer Forbes staffer Jennie Conway to join the agency as account director. She will lead account teams spanning both the agency's UK and international business, concentrating on campaigns for Pfizer and BMS Europe.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has developed advice on the rules governing the promotion of medicines for companies operating consumer websites. The advice is aimed at companies providing services that may lead to prescription and supply of prescription-only medicines, including treatments for wrinkles.
