FD Tamesis appoints new V-P

FD's property PR arm, FD Tamesis, has brought in a TTA Public Relations senior account director as its vice-president.

Phil Kennedy will initially focus on pre-planning consultation for some of the major developers and landowners on the firm's client list.

Kennedy left TTA after nine years as a senior account director. At the agency he led the firm's offer on pre-planning consultation and heading PR accounts in the housing, planning, development and construction sectors.

FD Tamesis clients include British Land, Development Securities and Quintain.

FD bought real-estate comms and public affairs consultancy Tamesis Business Communications in early 2005 (PRWeek, 21 January, 2005). It renamed the firm soon after and moved the agency to its Holborn Gate offices. Tamesis was founded in 1991 by a group of friends involved in the promotion of the London Docklands.

- Separately, FD has been advising FTSE 100 nuclear power firm British Energy on what looks set to be one of the biggest M&A deals in the first half of 2008.

Despite the moribund market, British Energy has received a number of takeover approaches. Spain's Iberdrola, French energy giant Suez and Centrica (formerly British Gas) have all expressed interest. The firm could move for £11bn.

British Energy is the UK's leading nuclear power generator.
