DIARY: Bubbly flows at the Power Book launch

The champagne, conversation and plaudits were flowing last week as the elite echelons of the PR world gathered to celebrate the launch of the PRWeek Power Book 2008.

The book could be the most important single publication since the signing of Haymarket owner Lord Michael Heseltine's birth certificate. It is an indispensable guide to PR's great and good. More than 200 top PR professionals flocked to the Maddox Club to listen to a speech by Heseltine himself. Our Lord told of his own PR crisis when the CJD scandal hit the Tory Government and spread across the news like a bout of winter 'flu.

Honourable mentions go to Bowel Cancer UK press director Ian Beaumont and APCO regional chief Jonathan Chandler, who supped the free champagne with Diary until the wee hours.

Anyhow, if you want to know who is really running the country, read the little black Power Book you received in last week's issue, or check out the nifty e-mag online.
