Amazon seeks fresh PR support

Online retailer Amazon is seeking PR support for its entire UK brief - and is not inviting incumbents Idea Generation to repitch.

Amazon head of PR for the UK and France, Damian Peachey, said it has a short-list of agencies in mind that will be pitching for the six-figure account in the next month.

He added: 'I'm looking for someone who is very well attuned to the cultural agenda in the UK, and also has a good understanding of the news agenda.'

Idea Generation account director Louise Stocks will continue to lead the team of four until May.

'It is a bit disappointing,' said Idea Generation MD Hector Proud. 'There was a general sense that it had come to the end of its natural course. We have taken it as far as we can.'

Amazon has used Idea Generation for five years, and handed its entire brief over to the agency last February, including Toys and Home & Garden. Amazon previously used Idea Generation alongside Brave PR.

Amazon parted ways with Brave after 18 months in the summer of 2006.

This year, Amazon expanded into film production and is currently funding the film The Stolen Child with 20th Century Fox.
