New Statesman deputy editor Sue Matthias has been appointed acting editor of the magazine following John Kampfner's departure.

The Financial Times' international company news editor Patrick Jenkins has been promoted to companies editor and assistant editor, replacing Charlie Pretzlik who left to join JPMorgan Cazenove.

Following the closure of The Business, City editor Rupert Steiner has moved to The Daily Mail as chief City correspondent.

The Sunday Times' deputy City editor Jenny Davey has replaced Grant Ringshaw as City editor. Ringshaw has moved to PR firm Citigate Dewe Rogerson.

Columnist Mary Riddell has left The Observer and has joined The Daily Telegraph as assistant editor.

Fabulous, the News of the World glossy magazine, has hired Tracey Lea Sayer as fashion director. Sayer moves from handbag.com where she held the same title.

Bauer's women's title Bella has appointed Julia Davis as editor. Davis moves from OK! magazine where she was deputy editor.

Black newspaper New Nation has appointed Lester Holloway as acting editor following the departure of Michael Eboda. Danielle Weekes has joined as senior reporter, and Toyin Agbetu will join as a columnist.

Alicia Buller has left Haymarket trade title Revolution, where she was features editor. Buller is moving to Dubai as managing editor of Arabian Business.

Bristol newspaper The Western Daily Press has hired Brian Price as chief reporter to replace Chris Roe, who left in January. Deputy business editor John Fox-Clinch has left and Mike Ribbeck has replaced him.

The Independent Lawyer, which relaunches in April, has hired Caroline Davidson as its editor. Davidson joins from a features editor role at A&D Media's Sustainable Solutions magazine.

BROADCAST
Newsnight economics editor Stephanie Flanders has taken over from Evan Davis as BBC economics editor. She will replace Davis in April when he moves to the BBC Radio 4 Today programme.

BBC Lincolnshire reporter Polly Fortune is moving to BBC Radio Humberside as news editor.

DX Media has hired two senior staff members in preparation for the launch of NME Radio later this year. Joanne Burlando has been appointed head of operations, moving from Xfm, where she was music and programme manager. New music and production manager Katie Torrie also joins from Xfm, where she was main daytime producer.

DIGITAL
Haymarket's consumer division has hired Joe Minihane as news editor of Stuff magazine's website, stuff.tv . Minihane joins from Future Publishing title T3.com where he held the same role.

Isabelle O'Carroll is now deputy editor of Catwalk Queen (catwalkqueen.tv ) but will continue her role as menswear editor of Brandish (brandish.tv ). Both websites are published by Shiny Media.

Heise Media Group has launched heise-online.co.uk , an IT, tech and telecoms news service. Former ZDNet.co.uk senior editor Jonathan Bennett is editor in chief.

The Daily Mail has launched a free text message service called MailTXT, encouraging readers to access the newspaper's mobile portal. Users will be able to browse news, receive alerts and shop at MailShop.
