LETTERS: Give the CIPR the respect it deserves ..

It is great to see Elisabeth Lewis-Jones isn't afraid to voice her frustrations at the cynics amongst us in the PR profession who cannot see the value of CIPR membership as an accreditation from an industry that takes itself seriously (Profile, 25 January).

PR professionals have struggled for years to be seen as being practitioners of a valuable, business-centric discipline and the CIPR has been instrumental in turning things around. As we face an economic downturn, we are looking for ways to get more value out of what we do by taking a more advisory approach.

If we are to get the most out of the CIPR then everyone needs to sign up.
