Glasgow-based PR shop Burt Greener was appointed to the account following a three-way pitch.

This is the second year the awards will take place and will be held in London in April.

The awards were set up in early 2007 to recognise and honour the hard work of independent live music venues, promoters and the artists that they showcase and help to develop.

Burt Greener is tasked with delivering a national and regional press campaign to promote the event beyond the London media that it attracted in 2007.Sponsorship agency Jam2Day has also been hired to handle all sponsorship activity for the event.

Last year's awards concentrated on the London music scene but have this year been opened up to cover the whole of the UK. The artists awarded last year included Glen Matlock, Tom McRae, Marcella Detroit, Omar and producer Kevin Shirley.
