Public Affairs: Agencies prepare for mayoral bid

Lobbyists are attempting to capitalise on the London mayoral election as the contest looms closer.

Many public affairs consultancies are understood to be developing specific intelligence gathering and monitoring services in the run-up to the election, which takes place on 1 May.

One agency, Insight Public Affairs, is making a concerted bid to position itself as an authority on the subject by offering 'a manifesto deep-dive, real-time alerts and a comprehensive forward-planning calendar'.

Insight account manager Andrew Hobson said: 'While all eyes will be on the Ken versus Boris contest, we will also keep a close watch on all developments across the capital, particularly in those key battleground London Assembly seats.'

The Electoral Commission and London Elects recently called in Grayling to raise awareness of the elections and the London Assembly (PRWeek, 18 January).
