Tory rising star is snared by WS

The woman tipped to be the Conservative Party’s first Asian female MP has joined Weber Shandwick as a director.

Priti Patel started this week based in the agency’s corporate and public affairs practices.

Patel is the official Conservative candidate for the newly created constituency of Witham in Essex, regarded as a winnable seat.

She joins Weber Shandwick from the corporate rel­ations team at Diageo, where she shaped a global strategy on responsible drinking. She previously worked at Weber Shandwick from 2000 to 2003 and has also been deputy press secretary to ex-Tory leader William Hague.
