Exposure to focus on new England kit

Sports brand Umbro will use marcoms agency Exposure to promote the new England football kit.

Exposure was appointed after a four-way pitch and replaces three-year incumbent agency Threepipe.

In addition to promoting the kit, which is expected to be unveiled in mid-2008, Exposure will handle Umbro’s other football-related activity. This includes promoting the brand’s relationship with Wembley Stadium and involvement with the FA Cup.

Exposure previously handled PR for Umbro’s ‘lifestyle activities’. The new account will be headed by senior account manager Jack Lamacraft and account director Lex Deasley.

Separately... Manchester-based PR shop Smith & Smith has been hired by League Football Education, a partnership between The Football League and the Professional Footballers’ Association.

The agency has been briefed to promote a new scheme aimed at improving the career prospects of trainee footballers who fail to make the professional grade. The scheme encourages these players to attain skills to ensure they are not left unemployed.

It is understood Bell Pottinger previously held the account, although the agency did not confirm this.
