Ex-PPS Scotland chief branches out with own firm

Former PPS Scotland head Mark Cummings has set up his own lobbying outfit and landed a contract with PPS’ main Scottish client.

Cummings’ four-strong Edinburgh-based agency Invicta Public Affairs is providing PR and public
affairs support to Mountgrange, the planners behind the controversial Caltongate development project in Edinburgh. This is despite PPS’ retainer with Mountgrange.

Cummings said Invicta would have a broader focus than PPS, dealing not just with Scottish lobbying but with national public affairs and planning policy. ‘We are at an embryonic stage right now but we are working on developing our portfolio,’ he said.

The Caltongate regeneration project hit the headlines last month when the former Edinburgh City Council head Donald Anderson was hired to lead PPS Scotland following Cummings’ departure

Anderson had supported Mountgrange’s plans while he was council leader.

But he has insisted his employment at PPS is not linked to this (PRWeek, 26 October).
