Winehouse calls in agency help

Amy Winehouse called in entertainment PR agency The Outside Organisation just days before cancelling her UK tour this week.

The troubled singer cancelled all UK performances for the rest of the year just hours before a planned gig in Bournemouth on Tuesday, citing doctor’s orders.

PRWeek has learned that the agency was appointed last week to consult on the tour and is now fielding calls on the issue, although since the cancellation the nature of the agency’s brief has become unclear.

Outside CEO Alan Edwards said: ‘Hopefully we’ll stay involved because she is without doubt an incredible talent.’

Despite widespread critical acclaim for her music, Winehouse faces a huge reputational challenge, having been the subject of negative stories about her lifestyle for months, including recent reports of erratic behaviour on stage.

Winehouse continues to retain her US publicist Tracey Miller, founder of Tracey Miller & Associates Publicity. She also continues to work with UK promoters at her record label, Island Records, with whom she has worked since her 2003 record deal.
