Design body to become greener

Government-funded body the Design Council has snared Greenpeace International’s chief media officer as its new head of comms as it puts sustainability at the top of its agenda.

Nigel Campbell will lead the comms function at the public sector outfit, promoting design’s role both in encouraging sustainability and building the economy.

The body will focus on initiatives such as its recent Design of the Time programme, which saw designers and communities in the North East create models for sustainable living.

Before joining Greenpeace, Campbell worked as a regional current affairs producer for BBC Radio. He also worked at Weber Shandwick, most recently as corporate account director for the agency’s broadcast division.
