Scottish football finds a new champion

The man credited with securing Glasgow's successful bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games is joining the Scottish Football Association (SFA) as head of media.

As head of PR and media for Glasgow 2014, Rob Shorthouse has spent the past 20 months promoting the city as a potential host versus contenders including Nigeria’s capital Abuja.

In the new job, Shorthouse will promote the SFA’s role in the development of the sport.

‘I want people to see that the SFA cares deeply about the future of the sport, as it has not always been clear in the past,’ he said.

Shorthouse replaces Andy Mitchell, who has left the SFA to freelance.
