North Tyneside revamps comms unit

North Tyneside Council is expanding its PR team as it overhauls its comms department.

The council is extending its comms remit to include dedicated marketing and internal communications.

North Tyneside is seeking a comms officer specialising in children, young people and learning, as well as an internal comms officer. A marketing manager is also sought.

North Tyneside is rearranging its services into four regions, each with its own strategic director and customer service centre.

The council recently embarked on a four-year raft of campaigning work with the help of public sector specialist agency DTW. This included a campaign concerning a major structural overhaul at the unitary authority.

DTW is also involved in a corporate identity revamp and campaigns on housing, the environment and regeneration.

The area is set to benefit from around £1bn of regeneration cash over the next ten years. This includes £60m to improve the Whitley Bay area, a tourist attraction.
