Ketchum hires Cartwright at expense of H&K

Ketchum has poached Hill & Knowlton's respected public affairs chief Rod Cartwright to head up its fledgling lobbying practice.

H&K board director Cartwright will join Ketchum as public affairs MD in early January, reporting to London deputy CEO Avril Lee.

Ketchum’s current public affairs activity in the UK is largely managed through its corporate affairs and healthcare practices. Cartwright will be tasked with developing Ketchum’s international PA offering, working closely with recently appointed corporate MD Patrick Barrow (PRWeek, 8 June 2007) and healthcare MD Susannah Knox.

Cartwright is a veteran of UK public affairs, having led the PA team at GCI before moving to H&K in 2004.

Well-known in Labour circles, he managed events for Tony Blair and John Prescott during the 1997 General Election. He is also public affairs chair at the PRCA.
