Brown, a former head of public relations at Glasgow City Council, was awarded the 2007 Stephen Tallents Medal by the CIPR.

The medal is awarded at the discretion of CIPR president Lionel Zetter and recognises ‘outstanding achievement in and contributions to public relations’.

Zetter said: ‘I chose to present the medal to John for the contribution he has made to the Institute. He’s done this in a number of ways, as former chair of CIPR Scotland and as a current trustee of the CIPR’s benevolent fund, Iprovision, as well as a CIPR Board and Council member.’
