Mmd chief urges caution in Europe

Healthcare agency bosses have been warned against launching shops in central and eastern Europe unless they have an existing network available.

Alistair McLeish, chairman of public affairs and corporate comms consultancy Mmd, made the comments at the International Public Relations Association Summit in London last week. He said working in central and eastern Europe was difficult without regional support.

Mmd, which was bought by Huntsworth in October last year, formed a strategic alliance with healthcare PR specialist Chandler Chicco Agency in the same month.

Last month, Burson-Marsteller struck a partnership with Austria’s second-biggest PR consultancy, Hochegger.

The deal paves the way for B-M to work across central and eastern Europe (PRWeek, 19 October).
