Miller to become Green Issues MD

APCO’s former UK MD Simon Miller is to resurface at political planning specialist Green Issues Communications later this month.

Miller resigned from APCO in the summer (PRWeek, 6 July) and left the agency on 29 July.

He was swiftly replaced by Darren Murphy, a former aide to former prime minister Tony Blair.

Miller, a former board director at Hill & Knowlton, will start at Green Issues on 26 November. He takes the role of MD at the 35-strong Reading-based firm.

Meanwhile, the consultancy’s founder, Tom Curtin, becomes chief executive.

Miller’s brief is to ‘consolidate and continue the growth of Green Issues’ as it seeks to fend off competition from its main rival, PPS Group, as well as from agencies such as Lexington Communications that are keen to win more property clients.

Meanwhile... former APCO UK director Nick Sutcliffe has joined PPS Group. He takes the role of director at PPS, reporting to company MD Stephen Byfield.

Sutcliffe, an elected Conservative councillor in Guild- ford, left APCO earlier this year.

PPS is currently being investigated by the APPC following a number of accusations that surfaced in London’s Evening Standard and on Channel 4’s Dispatches programme (PRWeek, 1 August).

The consultancy recently hired former Edinburgh City Council leader Donald Anderson to head up its Scotland office (PRWeek, 26 October).
