Property industry trade body adds to firepower

The trade body representing the commercial property industry has made two senior hires as it attempts to improve the image of the industry in Westminster.

The British Property Federation (BPF) has appointed Social Market Foundation researcher Kurt Mueller as its new public affairs manager. He starts on 14 November and will report to comms director Andrew Panting.

The BPF has also brought in Pozitiv Communications account manager Patrick Brown. He started this week, taking the title of senior policy officer and focusing on sustainability, planning and regeneration issues.

Director of communications Chris Carter is leaving in December for ‘personal reasons’, according to a spokesman. The BPF claims it persuaded the Government to scrap plans for a new tax, the planning-gain supplement. Last year, it helped set up the All Party Parliamentary Urban Development Group.

The commercial property industry is more than twice the size of the oil industry, according to the BPF.
