Haygarth secures job to comfort the conscientious smoker

‘Ethically sourced’ cigarette brand 1st Nation has appointed its first PR agency as it launches in the UK this week.

1st Nation claims to be the UK’s first ethically sourced cigarette brand. The cigarettes are made using natural tobacco. It is claimed their production benefits independent farmers in Malawi and native Mohawk tobacco manufacturers.

1st Nation MD Sean Glynn said: ‘The 1st Nation brand will appeal to smokers in the 10 million UK homes who are now buying Fairtrade products.’

Haygarth is charged with handling trade and consumer media relations.

It secured the business following a pitch against an undisclosed agency.

The cigarette brand does not currently carry the official fair trade logo as no Fairtrade organisation has standards written to cover tobacco production.
