Paramount hires Headstream for film promotion

Southampton-based digital agency Headstream PR has been hired by Paramount to promote its controversial upcoming film The Kite Runner online.

The film, based on Khaled Hosseini's fictionalised memoirs of childhood in Afghanistan, has already created a stir after the filming of a rape scene caused an uproar and provoked safety concerns for the young actors involved. The two Afghan boys starring in the film will be flown to the US accompanied by guardians in the run-up to the film's December release.

The account team at Headstream will create buzz about the film on social networking sites and blogs.

Directed by Marc Forster, who is responsible for Monster's Ball and Finding Neverland, The Kite Runner is expected to be a winner in next year's awards season.
