TAQA, an £8bn energy investment company, will use Manning Selvage & Lee and its City arm, Capital MS&L, on the brief.
The agency was appointed last week following a five-way pitch in mid-August. MS&L has been tasked with providing support across corporate communications, investor relations, public affairs, internal communications and digital activity.
The agency is also charged with delivering a global communications infrastructure and assisting with major acquisitions.
The appointment follows the acquistion by TAQA of Calgary-based oil and gas company Northrock Resources for £1bn in May. Last week, it made a £2.5bn offer for Calgary-based oil and natural gas producer PrimeWest Energy Trust.
The account will be led by Jonathan Sinnatt, director of MS&L’s corporate group, with CEO Stuart Wilson providing strategic counsel. Capital MS&L’s director Claire Maloney will also work on the account.
The work will also include input from MS&L’s Dubai and Toronto offices.
The agency will begin activity in the US, the Middle East and Europe, including the UK. In the coming months, projects will include operations in Africa and Asia.
The win follows MS&L’s appointment by global IT consultancy ThoughtWorks (PRWeek, 1 August).
The agency’s London office was charged with handling its thought-leadership and profile-raising PR programme in the UK. It is also responsible for driving financial investment.
