McCanns still fine-tuning PR

Clarence Mitchell, the McCann family’s new spokesman, is considering setting up a local press office for the embattled family.

Separately... the agency of former John Major press secretary Charles Lewington will continue to provide a press office for the family until at least next week.

As first revealed on PRWeek.com, Hanover was brought in last week to create a press office for Kate and Gerry McCann, who have been under scrutiny following the disappearance of their daughter Madeleine.

Mitchell quit as director of the Government’s media monitoring unit to take the role,  funded by an anonymous backer. Hanover, funded by the same backer, has four staff fielding calls in London, and one in Leicestershire.
