Carbon Connections manages a £3m kitty from the Higher Education Innovation Fund and offers seed money to companies bringing carbon-reducing products and services to the market.
To build awareness of eligible firms, Astrolabe will oversee media relations with environmental reporters in the national press and specialist environmental publications, as well as broadcast media and online channels.
Astrolabe senior consultant Elizabeth Block said: ‘The firms that Carbon Connections deals with often have a lot of ideas but are a long way from profitability and unable to attract venture capital
This money is intended to fill the gap and keep them afloat.’
Astrolabe hopes to use its connections with the financial community to encourage investment.
