Stockport overhauls marcoms team

Stockport Council is restructuring its 14-strong marketing and communications team.

Three existing roles have been revamped and two new posts created as part of the overhaul.

The posts of issues and publications co-ordinator and manager have been formed from existing roles.

‘Gone are the days when we can just create a leaflet and be reactive to press enquiries; we need to go out there and tell people,’ said head of marketing and communications Ian Ratcliffe.

Two new publicity and communications co-ordinator roles have also been created. One will assume responsibility for the environment, the other for regeneration, with a focus on the £500m regeneration of Stockport town centre. An internal communications co-ordinator role has also been introduced.

‘We want to reflect best practice and act as strategic advisers with a voice at the top table, not just as channel managers,’ said Ratcliffe.
