The agencies won the 18-month account with the site – which donates money to charity every time it is used –following a five-way pitch.
The brief will focus on driving traffic to the site, recruiting new users and establishing the credibility of the brand with charities, business, the education sector and the public.
The Geronimo team will be responsible for a consumer comms programme and is headed by director Peter Gilheany and associate director Anastasia Scott.
‘The development of social enterprise is important to the agency and provides an exciting communications challenge,’ said Scott.
Geronimo will work closely with Edelman’s Interactive Solutions team, which will create a social
media and online comms programme for the site. Edelman associate creative director Sherri Majid leads the account.
Both agencies report into Everyclick.com CEO and founder Polly Gowers.
Gowers said: ‘Our social enterprise model has proven its value, with the company giving £250,000 to charities across the UK. To maximise this, we sought proposals from public relations companies with expertise in delivering national, integrated campaigns. We decided to play to the strengths of each agency.’
The site, which launched in 2005, claims to be the eighth-largest search engine in the UK.
