Blue Cross nabs Zoological Society comms boss

Animal welfare charity The Blue Cross has filled its head of comms position, appointing a PRO from the Zoological Society of London.

Debbie Curtis joined the charity this week and takes charge of the 14-strong comms team, overseeing all PR, online, publishing and advertising activities.

She ­reports to marketing and fundraising director Tony Samuel and r­eplaces Dan Tickle, now chief executive at the No Smoking Day campaign.

Curtis was previously comms manager at the Zoological Society of London, where she worked for ten years.

The Blue Cross is currently expanding its re-homing and veterinary services and developing its education programmes and online resources. It recently gained national press coverage for its 12th annual ‘Take Your Dog To Work Day’, which saw dog owners engaging in fundraising activities, including sponsored lunch-hour dog walks.
