The agency’s brief is to support Poundland’s marketing strategy and growth plans, as the single-price retailer presses ahead with plans to open 75 new stores in the next three years.

Bottle has also been briefed to boost the profile of the chain, its seasonal products and its top brands. ‘The PR programme will support our strategy to meet the increased demand for value shopping,’ said marketing manager Harminder Sidhu.

The account is led by consultant Bridget Taylor. She said: ‘The chain plans to open 15 stores by the end of the year.

As well as working on this, we will be focusing on seasonal events such as back-to-school, Halloween and Christmas.’

Bottle scooped the brief after a four-way pitch. Poundland currently serves more than 1.7m customers a week from its existing 153 stores.
