Londoners prefer caffeine to Crouch

Boris Johnson and his Conservative rivals may want to tap in to the Superbrands survey to discover current trends exercising denizens of the Big Smoke.

Fitness, it seems, is a priority, with Diet Coke ranking 50 places higher in London than the average and food-in-a-glass beverage Guinness outside the top 30 (nationally it sits at eight).

Equally, Red Bull ranks more highly in London than any other region - but that probably has more to do with Londoners' apparent Brummie-like addiction to Smirnoff, which rests inside the top 20.

But to really tap in to the London psyche perhaps Johnson should re-engage in his spat with Scousers, who he once accused of 'wallowing' in their 'victim status'. A full 150 places lower than the national average, five-time European champions Liverpool FC suffer a reputational hit down south - they are listed as Londoners' least favourite football team in the survey.
