Letter - Separate bodies serve little purpose

There is no need for a separate organisation for charity communicators (6 July). I believe top charity PROs would serve the sector better by taking the Chartered Institute of Public Relations' more holistic approach to communications.

Fifth Estate is an integral - and increasingly influential -part of the Institute, and has supported PR and communications professionals in the charity and not-for-profit sector for 17 years.

Members sign a code of conduct, binding them to the highest levels of professionalism and integrity.

Many charities welcome CIPR recognition, and I would hate to see the charity sector's opportunities to showcase its work in a wider arena diluted.

It would not be in its interest to have this professionalism and expertise marginalised in a charities-only enclave.

Gill Dandy, chair, CIPR Fifth Estate
