Lastminute.com team gets major shake-up

Lastminute.com has brought in a new PR chief as part of a major in-house comms overhaul.

Amanda Cumine takes the UK and European director of PR role at the travel website. She joins from American Express, where she spent a year launching the credit card company’s first luxury consumer campaign across Europe. Prior to her work at AmEx, Cumine spent over a decade on the agency side in senior B2B and consumer roles and as a new business director.

Cumine will be responsible for the entirety of the brand’s European PR activity, including media relations and corporate comms.

She replaces industry stalwart Claire Williams, who left lastminute.com to head the InterContinental Hotel Group’s global comms team (PRWeek, 2 May).

Lastminute.com has also hired Jamie Wortley as head of UK PR. He will be reporting directly to Cumine.

The overhaul is completed with two new account managers. Paul Nelson joins from Quadrant Publishing’s Travel Weekly magazine, where he was the publication’s online correspondent. Also joining as an account manager is Charlotte Wilmots, who previously worked at consumer firm Mango PR.

Nelson will focus on lastminute.com’s profile in the trade press, while Wilmots has been briefed to improve the brand’s reputation in the consumer media. These two new recruits replace account managers Louise Prior and Jane Sinclair.

The sole veteran of lastminute.com is Hannah Shanks, who has been promoted to senior account
executive. Lastminute.com’s European and UK PR is run entirely by its in-house team.
