The agency has brought in former Novartis comms manager Joanna Lem and former Burson-Marsteller director Sameena Mirza.

Both report to Huntsworth commercial director Sandy Thomson, who said more senior hires were in
the pipeline as Huntsworth builds med ed and PR
capacity.

Lem joins as account director, overseeing global work for Norgine’s bowel cleansing drug MoviPrep as well as looking after the UK account for Sanofi Aventis’ anti-clotting drug Clexane.
She was previously comms manager for market access products at Novartis. Following a wide-ranging comms restructure this year, Lem’s remit covered media relations, government affairs and patient advocacy. While at Novartis she worked with new boss Thomson – who used to be head of health comms at Novartis before leaving the pharma giant two years ago.
Lem’s appointment follows that of Sameena Mirza who joined as client services director last month. Mirza was previously a director in Burson-Marsteller’s New York office, where she worked for two years.

In her new role, Mirza will be overseeing teams and operational issues, and has a new business remit. She replaces Sue Walkley, who moved to Medicom Group as an associate director earlier this year (PRWeek, 14 February).
